The ABCs of Becoming a Christian
Admit you have sinned (done wrong). God's word says that "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) We can't make it into heaven without His grace.
Believe in Jesus. God's word says that "God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16) God wants everyone to go to heaven and has provided a way for us.
Confess and leave your sin behind. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." (I John 1:9). Many people think they must change themselves first before coming to Jesus. This is the opposite of what really happens. We must admit we need His help to change and let Christ transform us into a new person.
If you decide to become a Christian, start reading God's words to us which are contained in the Bible. The book of John is a great place to begin. Also find a church that believes that Jesus Christ is our Savior and believes in the Bible. Begin attending regularly. There are a variety of styles out there: casual versus formal, contemporary music versus traditional etc. These things don't matter as long as the word of God is taught.
